NEWSLETTER 2...Membership cards, OTW & Benchmarking...

Membership Cards

We apologise for the delay due to a number of factors outside our control. However these issues have now been resolved and your new UDW membership card will be issued shortly. The design has been finalised and is currently at the printer. Also look out for your UDW pocket diary and pen.

Long Service Awards

Would all UDW members please note that DHL has introduced a new long service award. Members should make themselves familiar with the new scheme. (Ask your manager for a copy)

The UDW successfully challenged the company decision not to recognise 15 years service. Existing employees up to the date of the introduction of the new scheme should ensure that they receive their award.
The UDW have written to the company seeking confirmation that UDW members employed at the date of introduction of the new scheme will have the choice of either, electing to receive awards under the old Securicor scheme or, electing to receive the awards under the new scheme. If you have any questions, please contact a UDW representative. If you do not wish to receive your long service award under the new scheme, you should make it clear to the company in writing that you consider the former Securicor long service scheme to be a contractual benefit forming part of your terms and conditions.

OTW and Benchmarking

News has reached the UDW that an OTW team (Optimising Tours and Warehousing) will be looking at all delivery and collection runs with the possibility of benchmark reviews starting early in the new year.

REMEMBER!... The P.R.P agreement stands. Service centre managers should not be introducing a BLANKET BENCHMARK. There is a process that needs to take place, where by the driver will have the right to a one to one consultation with their line manager, to discuss the run and once both have agreed to a workable benchmark, then both will sign the P.R.P consultation form. If you do not agree with the benchmark you are being set, you have a right to challenge the decision through the grievance procedure.

P.R.P was introduced to make the driver and vehicle more productive WITHIN the drivers contracted hours. REMEMBER!... The OTW only make recommendations, we are sure that local management have the sense to manage appropriately. If any member or DHL employee has any concerns regarding OTW or benchmark increases do not hesitate to contact your UDW representative.

Wage Slips

The UDW have raised the issue of the lack of your hourly rate appearing on the modified wage slips, and we have asked the company to re-instate the hourly rate as a matter of urgency.
